Tuition FAQs

How young can you start learning an instrument?

We recommend age 7 as a starting point for most instruments. However, an enthusiastic student can learn from any age and are welcome.

If your child is younger than this and you would like to introduce them to music, our partners at MK Music Hub offer a range of groups for younger learners.

Do I need an instrument to learn?

Yes. You will need your own instrument for lessons, and practising between lessons is essential for progression.

Where can I get an instrument?

Milton Keynes Music Co-operative does not hire or sell instruments.
You will need to purchase your own instrument for lessons. Please speak to your teacher for their recommendation.

If you'd prefer to hire an instrument, MK Music Hub provide instrument hire across Milton Keynes.
